Episode 5 : Making Glutinous Rice Dumpling (Bak Zhang)

Chinese Glutinous Rice Dumpling or commonly known Bak Zhang or Kuih Cang/Chang is a prominent dumpling among Chinese. So happened that Mom has brought all the ingredients and we picked the last day to make it.

Mom's creation.


Halu~ 
First step, place in some glutinous rice. 
Make sure you leave a hole in the middle and spread the rice around.
It's hard to explain. 
Study through the picture.


Another shot! 
Now the meat filing is "planted" on top of the glutinous rice.


The third step is to "bury" the meat with some glutinous rice.


Now here comes the part where kung fu is required.
It's not easy to do this step. 
It is very important to master this step or else your dumpling will "buka mulut" when you cook them.
